Frequency and benefits of regional networks within
the German capital goods industry
Pages 29 - 41
Based on a representative study, the paper focuses on how
frequent regional networking occurs, which firms cooperate in networks
more often than others, and which benefits come with regional networks
for participating firms. Extending the approach of earlier studies, the
paper measures effects of regional networks by observing specific performance
characteristics, immediately depending onto the networking activity. The
empirical results show that networks offer synergies. Surprisingly, low-profit
firms are particularly often engaged in regional networks.
